There is so much beauty in this world, and if only my fingers could put it to paper or canvas as my eyes see it...
I have cats, dogs, ferrets, chickens, cows and horses because I like animals, and I draw and paint wildlife and nature because that's what I like and enjoy. My pets bring me joy and laughter, and nature brings me peace and closeness to God. A quote from Anne Frank: "The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quiet, alone with the heavens, nature and God. Because only then does one feel that all is as it should be and that God wishes to see people happy, amidst the simple beauty of nature."
My pen and ink drawings are done with stippling, which is the art of drawing with very fine dots. My earlier drawings are line drawings, taking 5 to 10 hours to do, but with stippling (one dot at a time), it takes 20-40 hours to do a drawing. But it's worth the effort. Stippling gives a velvety shading that can't be achieved any other way. The color drawings are pen and ink finished with watercolors.
Prints: My prints are on 8 1/2"x11" acid-free paper, printed with archival ink, and are signed and numbered.

Pen and ink drawing of a wolf. I enjoy listening to the coyotes at nightime; I can't image the thrill of hearing wolves in the wild.

Pen and ink drawing of a loon nesting in the cattails. Occasionally I get to hear these birds in the summertime and have enjoyed watching them on the lakes.

This is one of my first pen and ink drawings. This one is done with lines instead of stippling.
A Tree's Vantage Point
8 3/4"x7 3/4"
This is one of my favorite pen and ink drawings. It just worked out so nicely. This world would be so much poorer without wildlife like the big cats like leopards.

Another pen and ink drawing of a leopard. This is another of my earlier line drawings.
Grant's Zebras

Buck in Velvet
9 3/4"x6 1/4"
This was a fun drawing to do! I really got into stippling with pen and ink while doing the antlers on this buck. It gives a soft velvety look.
Zebra
8"x6"
One of my first pen and ink drawings done with lines instead of stippling.
Lion
7 1/2"x7"
Pen and ink line drawing of a lion. This was one of my first and just about one of my last pen and ink drawings. The mane of this guy was very difficult.
